Stream bog in Epping Forest51.680356,0.076872
Submitted by diveruk on 20 December, 2009 - 15:57.Might belong under "Forest & Wilderness" rather than "Bogs or Swamps", but according to a friend this is a stream bog.
Coordinates are an estimate, but the area is well worth exploring. If you head south from the path next to Ambresbury Banks, you will almost certainly encounter mud, especially in wet weather. I know at least one spot you will sink up to your waist in, if not deeper - looks like a dried-up stream bed with a tree fallen over it, and the tree comes in handy when trying to get out again!

Amesbury, UK
Submitted by DeepMud on 4 January, 2009 - 13:37.I found this spot during a visit to the UK back in 2005 and 2006. I would like to apologize in advance asI am unable to provide any pictures of this location, but found it interesting, so I would like to share this one with you, anyway. It is close to Stonehenge so you can go mudding plus get educated in 1/2 a day! ;-)
Rivington Moor / Winter Hill
Submitted by mudboy on 2 January, 2009 - 04:51.The footpath between Rivington pike and the winter hill transmitter (you can't miss it lol) makes a great walk in all but the height of summer when it's very dry. The mud is mostly a peat based bog, like most bogs its more than 1 metre deep.
Parking is at the bottom of the hill (below lever park) and a bit of exploring in the park can reveal a few extra muddy places.
While the footpath is not very 'private' you can see people coming for miles.... and accidents will happen when out on a walk in such places :)
