Quarry and Claypits
Stretham quarry
Submitted by muddsterr on 2 January, 2010 - 23:00.Perfect smooth mud and lots of fresh water to clean up in, deserted site and 200m walk from the road, surrounded by high banks so not a chance of being spied on - see my rubber videos taken at this site in the Summer :) http://mudboyuk.com/content/mud-and-rubber_3069
Always happy to show others round.
Leigh sand pit
Submitted by chickenhawk on 27 June, 2009 - 09:56.This is a working sand pit producing the archetypal bright red Cheshire sand.
The easiest way to get into the site is on the south side, there is no fencing here, just a mound of earth from when the topsoil was cleared. I've not had a full session in there but have had a wander around, found a few areas of soft dark red mud of at least ankle depth (I didn't try going in any deeper) plus a large pond in one corner. The water in the pond is quite dirty so not that good for cleaning up, however there is a brook across the fields to the south of the site.

Submitted by muddyboots on 7 January, 2009 - 00:36.Follow directions for wareham quarry 1 (here http://mudboyuk.com/muddy_locations/wareham-quarry-1_1806) but continue about 1k further up, entrance located at GR: 898888, walk along road once reach quarry follow path to the left round the edge, you will pass 2 pools go left icon marks where the decent mud is here. Rest of the quarry is now landfill unfortunatly.

Wareham Quarry 1
Submitted by muddyboots on 7 January, 2009 - 00:21.First of a batch of quarries dotted about Wareham, it's a shame I cant stick them all on the same map.
Back on trusty OS Outdoor Leisure 15
Take A351 into Wareham and turn off towards the station, at roundabout take the left after the station then the immediate left, go through the estate and fork to the right onto single lane road this is walking distance from Wareham station.
Arne Quarry
Submitted by muddyboots on 6 January, 2009 - 14:52.Isolated quarry near Arne, quick good thick mud, not much deeper than waist, thou was late summer, evidence that it was a lot wetter earlier in year. Few pits near center and some good pits on far west tip, worth a good look round!
Private property so usual yadda yadda own risk, cannot condone, etc etc applies.
