Rivington Moor / Winter Hill
The footpath between Rivington pike and the winter hill transmitter (you can't miss it lol) makes a great walk in all but the height of summer when it's very dry. The mud is mostly a peat based bog, like most bogs its more than 1 metre deep.
Parking is at the bottom of the hill (below lever park) and a bit of exploring in the park can reveal a few extra muddy places.
While the footpath is not very 'private' you can see people coming for miles.... and accidents will happen when out on a walk in such places :)
